"Nobody can guarantee to find you a publisher.
But I can make your work better."
Who am I?

That’s how I advertise my services. No false hopes.
No airy-fairy guarantees. But what gives me the
right to make such a claim?

The other side of the coin

For the next few years I travelled extensively and
watched my children grow up, while my novels
continued to generate an income. For a while I worked
as a magazine editor in Taiwan. My return to England
coincided with an opportunity to work at a firm of subsidy
publishers a short walk away from my home. I took the job,
curious to see what it would be like.

One of my responsibilities was to read approximately
a dozen full-length manuscripts a week to see if they
were suitable for publication. As an author-turned-editor,
now I was indeed looking at “the other side of the coin.”
