This book is about a barrister who was adopted. I was
a barrister, and I was adopted also. Much of the action
takes place on Paxos, an idyllic island south of Corfu,
where my family and I spent many a happy holiday.
But there the similarities end. Anna, my heroine,
was deeply attracted to her therapist, who worked for
East German intelligence...
Moral: no experience is wasted!
"Tense...moves forward smartly all the way. Most impressive."

This was the easiest book I ever wrote, and by far the
most enjoyable. It has a legal setting. The hero is
accused of treason and stands trial for his life.
But there is also a Far Eastern element, with
mysticism and magic, that renders it hard to categorize.
"Shocking...the suspense, woven by a British writer hailed
as the heir apparent to le Carre, is killing."
--Today
I wanted to write a story about a woman who
highjacked a plane because her son was on
board. This is the novel that resulted. It is a
Middle East spy and action thriller, but it is
also the story of a severely dysfunctional family
that suffers horribly for past errors.
"Taut suspense...horribly convincing."
